I'm not sure why I didn't know- but for some reason Jesus had me turn on the TV and switch to Tyra- and low and behold Kathy's on!  It looks like she'll be on for the whole hour- so if it's already to late to catch today hopefully some Youtube saint will post it soon!

(The shot above is old, but this episode is new- she's pimpin' the book y'all!)

Kathy is gonna face off with Kate Gosselin! This must be Barbara Walters way of retaliation! But- on this Friday's "The View" when Kathy guest hosts: Kate the Mom of the unfortunate 8 will be a guest!!

FLAMES!

The TV will explode with . . . hopefully comedy . . . but definitely tension! Can't miss!

NO Emmy for Kathy!

Proving that the Emmy voters blanked out on what reality show was best this year- "My Life on the D-List" failed to win its third straight Emmy.  That will just make next year's win that much sweeter!

I haven't looked at the complete list of winners yet, but Tina Fey justifiably won for her portrayal of super-boob Sarah Palin on "SNL."

Kathy reportedly told reporters that even though she was saddened by her Emmy loss- her book was number 10 on Amazon!  (personal note: I like the phrase "reportedly told reporters.")

Walking the Walk!

Yes! I practice what I preach- read it all yesterday and loved it! (Did I mention that already?)

RUN, Don't Walk!

Kathy's book came out yesterday- and I would've posted about it, but I was too busy reading it! I finished it last night and I have to say I loved it!

Very funny, much more of an autobiography than I was expecting- but I LOVED it! So RUN to your nearest Borders and beat on the door if they're closed- you'll love this book!

On Jimmy Kimmel on Wed. the 9th

Get your calendars back out! and that big Sharpie!

Kathy will be on Jimmy Kimmel's show on Wednesday night (the 9th) and I believe she'll be doing a spoof on parents of the year Jon & Kate. Those tummy tuck scars are grossing me out even though they're just marker!

Why, Exactly?

- and by whom?

Today on "Tuesday"

Tuesday- the day of her book release- Kathy will be on "The Today Show"- but probably not on the fourth hour with Cliff and Kendall sass-a-likes Kathie Lee and Hoda, that would be too confusing! Make sure to tune in though, I'm sure she'll get to the bottom of why the hell Al Roker is on the Weather Channel every morning.

Kathy on HGTV's Design Star Sunday Night

So- yes! Sunday night September 6th Kathy will be on HGTV's 'Design Star.' And just in case you haven't been watching, or quite possibly have no idea what this show is- let me fill you in. I know all about it, because I- shamefully- have been watching.

'Design Star' is basically HGTV's 'Project Runway,' or it would be the bastard child of 'The Next Food Network Star' and Bravo's 'Top Design.' Contestants design spaces each week in hopes of having their own makeover show on HGTV next year.

And I'm not sure if tomorrow is the last episode of the season or not, but they are definitely down to the final three. So- if you want to go into the show knowing a little bit of what's gone on- let me boil it down for you.

Over the last two weeks they've axed an annoying Perez Hilton look-a-like and a surprisingly stiff southern blonde. This leaves the final three: Antonio (below- he's working with Kathy!)- he's been called the Tony Soprano of design, a fairly (no offense) boring non-southern blonde lady (not pictured), and the cute gay guy who I think is named Dan (further below).

I feel like the odds are in Antonio's favor as the lady is more boring than sweet mother Martha on Nyquil, and last year's design star winner was a cute gay guy (the host of 'Color Splash.') I could really see either of the guys hosting a show, but can't think of another home makeover host with as much testosterone as Antonio and I believe this makes the show his to lose.

I know this all sounds gayer than words- and oh yeah, it is. But it was airing in the dry spell before 'Project Runway' started up again and now I just gotta see who wins! So check your local listings (think it airs 10/9pm central tomorrow), and it's also on my Comcast OnDemand if you have that kind of service and you miss it.

Oh- on the show each designer is going to be doing a room for a 'celebrity' client, and they are all celebrities- of Kathy's level (the other two are Kelly from 'Saved by the Bell' and Brandon from 'Beverly Hills 90210.')

Concert Report from CT

from the Ny Concert Examiner (Lorraine Schwartz):

Before Kathy Griffin took the stage at the Chevrolet Theatre in Wallingford, CT on Sunday night, her fans were treated to a playlist full of the queens of pop. Pink's "So What", Christina's "Keeps Gettin' Better", and Beyonce's "Single Ladies" were among the selections.

But it wasn't a diva anthem that she chose for her grand entrance. After a clip reel played highlights of Griffin's professional accomplishments, including work with very A-List people (Jerry Seinfeld on "Seinfeld", Will Smith on "Fresh Prince of Bel Air", Eminem in the music video for "The Real Slim Shady", Quentin Tarantino in "Pulp Fiction"), the dancing D-Lister came bounding out to the joyous Jacksons hit "Can You Feel It."

Kathy, dressed in an all black outfit that made her Farrah Fawcett-like mane of red hair pop off the stage, began her show by exclaiming her love for the random location she was playing that night: "We're not Hartford! We're not Windsor! We're WALLINGFORD!" She also got a kick out of celebrating the fact that the 5,000 seat venue is located steps away from a Scrubbin' Bubbles Car Wash, reinforcing the small town image.

Before moving forward with her set, she wanted to get a feel for the climate of the room by taking a census of the gay vs. straight balance in the crowd. Knowing her demographics lean towards the gay population, she joked that the few straight men present would most likely nap while she ranted on about the hot pop culture topics of the moment: The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Jon & Kate Plus 8, and Miley Cyrus' headline-making stripper pole dance at a children's awards program.

But really, it doesn't matter if you're gay or straight. As long as you're remotely aware of the Hollywood/political gossip of the day, you'll be able to stay with Griffin throughout her set without getting bored. If you're familiar with the ridiculousness that was the Sarah Palin-manufactured feud with David Letterman, Michael Vick's dogfight scandal, Oprah's friendship with WFSB-alum Gayle King, or a celebrity's need to encourage the public to follow their diet routine, you'll enjoy an evening with Ms.Griffin. By the way, Kathy's own personal trick to staying thin? Get ready. The secret is: "I don't eat as much as I like. I'm hungry ALL the TIME." Then she sarcastically advised to make sure we drink a lot of water in conjunction with that plan and wished us luck, should we try the method of self-restraint she follows.

Much to Kathy's chagrin, no one in the crowd happened upon her show by accident, like say a season ticket holder who just wanted to see her perform out of Sunday night boredom. Everyone there was right there with her the whole time and showed no signs of being offended by her material. I don't get the sense she would ever apologize for her sometimes harsh words even if she did rub someone the wrong way. After dropping a particularly provocative comment, for example implying one of the 8 Gosselin children might be showing early signs of being gay, she would then take a sip of her water while giving a sweet, smiling, innocent school-girl wave as if she couldn't be happier to offend.

My favorite story was getting Griffin's behind-the-scenes inside scoop on her surprise date to the Teen Choice Awards, Bristol Palin's ex-boyfriend and baby-daddy Levi Johnston. Since Kathy is known for her unrelenting honesty and fearlessness when it comes to calling celebrities out on their insane behaviors, I trusted her presentation of the 19 yr old. From her description, he came across as being a simple Alaskan boy trying to make the most of his moment in the spotlight. But not so simple that he doesn't understand that his words could help take down one of the most talked about politicians in recent memory by telling some not-so-nice behind-the-scenes stories of his own.

It's Kathy's ability to hilariously and honestly recount her own experiences with the celebrities we all want to know so much about, and that she herself is fascinated with, that make her worth the ticket price. We're all sick of being told by the media who to pay attention to and who we should think is amazingly important to our daily life. We love someone on the other side of the smoke and mirrors who isn't afraid to just come out and admit that yes, Jon Gosselin and his Ed Hardy wardrobe explosion is just silly, or that Gwyneth Paltrow's ego is a bit on the annoying side. Kathy will always be there for the public to remind us that we are not crazy for getting irritated with celebrity culture. And, that we're not crazy for being interested in all of it either.

As for what's next on Kathy's agenda, it's controversial pop star Chris Brown. Kathy is looking forward to his interview on Larry King this Wednesday, because she "cannot wait for what that f***ing a**hole has to say." And I can't wait to see what SHE has to say about HIM!

New Album Blurb:

From Allheadlinenews.com:

Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Kathy Griffin is on the prowl for another Grammy nomination. She just released her second comedy album, "Suckin' It For the Holidays."

She released her first comedy album, "For Your Consideration," last year and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Comedy Album. The late George Carlin took home the award for his final album, "It's Bad For Ya."

Griffin releases her album just days before the cut-off for Grammy nominations. There's something her and oft-mocked in her routine Whitney Houston have in common.

In "Suckin' It For the Holidays," Griffin takes about her wine-loving mother Maggie, meeting the target of many of her jokes Gayle King, and the women of Bravo's "Real Housewives." The album, which has a holiday-themed title and album cover but little reference to the holidays except the first track, is available at iTunes, AmazonMP3, and other digital outlets now.

FREE Madonna Video!

This is not that Kathy related unless you recall the D-List show where she went to Miami and said she was just like Madonna and needed multiple houses (or something).

ANYWAY- Did you know you can download the video for Madonna's fun new song FREE from itunes for the next 48 hours?  It is all in celebration of the new greatest hits album coming from the Queen of the Universe in a few weeks.  The song is also called "Celebration!"

In the video she gets some "face time" from Jesus, whom I've come to think of as her own personal bagel boy.  Don't miss the hotness!

Happy Birthday Lily Tomlin!

One of our favorite D-List guest stars (and comediennes) turns 70 today!
